): In celebration of the 125th anniversary of the University and the 20th anniversary of the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality (CSGS) in 2016, the CSGS, the Office of the President, and the University of Chicago Press will host Hanna Holborn Gray, former University president and professor of history emeritus to discuss the reissue of âMore than Lore: Reminiscences of Marion Talbot,â originally published in 1936, for which Professor Gray has written a new foreward. Talbot was the dean of women at the University from 1895 to 1925 and co-founder of what would become the American Association of University Women. âMore than Loreâ is a unique firsthand account of the early days of the University and a fascinating look at life as an early twentieth-century college woman, where simply to be a woman was to be a pioneer and the foundations of the modern undergraduate experience were being established.
