Our panel will move from the âraptivismâ of Bella Bahhs, who performs freedom songs to organize black people affected by mass incarceration, to Bill Sitesâ examination of the music of Sun Ra, whose speculative jazz helped launch afro-futurism and helped shape Black Chicago. Fergus McNeill will take us "across the pond" to see how people affected by criminal justice in Scotland use popular music and photography to resist and challenge âpervasive punishmentâ and to explore the meanings of community reintegration.
This event is free and open to the public. Register by April 13th.
