Comedian Kate Berlant performs followed by a discussion with Professor Lauren Berlant.
Kate Berlant is a writer, actor, and stand-up who The New York Times call âa magnetic improvisational comicâ at the forefront of experimental comedy. Kate was one of Comedy Central's Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2013 and performed as a New Face at the 2014 Montreal Comedy Festival. Since then, she has performed in festivals and venues across the country such as the New York Comedy Festival, The Kennedy Center, Moontower, San Francisco Sketchfest, and the JFL 42 Toronto Festival, among many others.
This year, in addition to being named one of the top 50 Comics to Watch by Vulture Magazine, Kate returned to the JFL festival in Montreal as one of Varietyâs Comics to Watch in 2015.
Upcoming, Kate will be performing at Festival Supreme, developing a scripted cable series with frequent collaborator John Early, and her Netflix ½-hour character special will begin streaming.
